Our Story

TANTALISING TASTEBUDS ACROSS YORKSHIRE FOR OVER 30 YEARS

The Jinnah journey began over four decades ago, rooted in a small family-run corner shop in Bradford, 1981. What started as a humble venture soon evolved into a passion for sharing authentic Kashmiri and Pakistani cuisine, inspired by traditional family recipes and a deep love for hospitality.

By the mid-1990s, the very first Jinnah Restaurant opened its doors, marking the beginning of what would become one of Yorkshire’s most recognised culinary names. The success of the early branches led to continued growth, and in 2001, Jinnah Restaurant Limited was officially incorporated—setting the foundation for a bold new chapter of expansion.

Over the years, Jinnah has proudly brought the rich flavours of Kashmir to communities across the region. Today, the group operates five thriving restaurants across Bradford, Harrogate, Shipley (Saltaire), York, and Selby—each one carrying the same heart, soul and dedication to flavour that began in our family kitchen.

With almost 30 years of restaurant heritage, Jinnah remains a proudly family-owned and family-run brand, committed to quality, hospitality and community. Just as Mohammed Ali Jinnah inspired a movement of independence and identity, our mission has always been to create a dining experience that speaks of culture, pride and the true taste of home.

From a single corner shop to five destination restaurants — the Jinnah story is still being written, and you're now a part of it.

INVOLVEMENT WITH COMMUNITY

AND BRADFORD BID 2025

As one of the first sponsors of Bradford’s City of Culture 2025 campaign, Jinnah and CEO Saleem Akhtar made significant early investments to help secure the winning bid.

From the outset, the Jinnah team committed to raising Bradford’s profile—particularly the vibrant Leeds Road community—through cultural and business initiatives.

Co-founding the Leeds Road Festival, Jinnah worked hand-in-hand with local businesses to deliver a platform that celebrated community spirit and entrepreneurship. The festival, held at Bradford Moor Park from August 28th to 30th, drew an incredible 25,000 attendees, marking it as a major success in the lead-up to City of Culture 2025.

With the backing of MP Imran Hussain, the event showcased the strength of collaboration in putting Bradford firmly on the cultural map.

Looking ahead, Jinnah & Co. are set to expand the Leeds Road brand even further, with plans to make the festival an annual flagship event that continues to support businesses, celebrate culture, and drive Bradford’s reputation forward.
